May Inspiration

May is my favourite month of the year because there is always something happening every weekend throughout it.

Also, it is my Birthday Month! And this year, I am turning 21 in Alicante, on the beach or by the pool side with the majority of my favourite people in the world. It's safe to say that I am looking forward to next weekend!

This weekend, there is a festival in Murcia, SOS 4.8, which I will be attending with one, or more, of my friends.

The fourth weekend I'm taking a trip to my beloved Roehampton to see my lovely uni friends for the weekend of the Summer Ball! I worked it last year so it will be exciting to actually be able to attend it again this year! Plus, seeing all my friends will be amazing because I miss them huge amounts.

And, the weekend after that, my best friend is coming to visit me in Murcia!

On top of all these busy weekends, I have work in my school which I still love, plus I have a tonne of work to do for university too, on top of tutoring sessions and sorting my room out (which I've already started).

(L-R) Family; Birthday Balloons; Beach Bedroom; Interiors; Drinkin' With M' Bitches; Imogen Belfield Ring; Festival Fashion; Pretty Little Dress; Friends On The Beach; Too Many Clothes To Fit In One Suitcase; Summer Lovin'; Peacock Colours

May really is the best month of the year!

Inspire

January is already over and February is already upon us. Time goes too quickly for my liking. Before you know it, the Christmas decs will be going up in the streets again and that will be another year of our lives over and done with.

Anyway, back to the now and not the future, as always here on SG, I have created an inspiration board for the coming month.

February is the month of all things love thanks to St Valentine's Day which is why I have gone for the theme of love as the base of this inspiration board. We have rose-like hair which is something that I would love to be able to do with my hair as well as classic roses and pale pink and white fashion. There are also the obvious images of love: a romantic couple, more flowers, hearts etc.

I also wanted to put what was inspiring me this month: the music of Queen (like every month one day or another), warm, homemade tomato soup which I which I could eat right now! I remember making a really good tomato soup when I was in school between the ages of 12 and 14. I wouldn't know how to do it now though. The aspect of young, wild and free because that is what I am, not so much wild but young and free. Plus, a very cool way of keeping all my earrings in shape. I need to invest in a dream catcher when I go home, which is at the end of next month!

This weekend has been a lazy one compared to the last. This time last weekend I was in The Union stuffing my face with a full monte beef burger with all the trimmings: bacon, cheese, fries, salad - Mmmm. Now I am back on rations. I have spent the past two days in bed despite the lovely weather outside, as well as tidy and change my room about. I've been missing out on highs of 28 degrees.

Tomorrow, this will all change as I start my new job in a local school. I am very excited, especially after finalising all of the paperwork last week. I am not so excited for the 8:55am start. But, this means that I will be out and about in the lovely warm city of Murcia. I'm not complaining.

Another exciting thing that happened this weekend (which will have it's own post) is that me and my friend Laura have booked our travels for June! Cordoba, Seville, Granada, Marbella and the White Island, Ibiza are all on the cards to kick off my summer holidays this year!

A Very Special Post

This post is dedicated to my Nin, a beautiful woman who I miss every day.

This is my Ninny (aka Nan, as nobody but our family seems to know what Nin means!). She passed five years today, and it's still hard to think that she has gone. She used to call me a 'little shit', not that I was one! I was the perfect grandchild (ahem!). There are a lot of us though; grandchildren I mean. She must have gone crazy remembering all our names. She got them wrong sometimes and went through a whole list of names before she got to the right one!

One memory I always remember from when I was younger was when I stayed with her one night and we were in her living room - which was the back room - and I watched the smoke from her cigerettes float up into the air and disappear on the ceiling.

I love you, Ninny NooNoo.

"Yo Ho Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me!"

"wake up me hearty's you're home"

Pirate's of the Caribbean 4: Stranger Tides came to cinemas today and my mother and I booked our seats for the 3:10pm viewing.
At first, the screen would black out for minutes on end, something to do with the TSM or something like that...
Anyway, eventually we got to watching an amazing film.

Of course, there had to be a love story entwined in the fantastic action scenes and there wasn't just one, there were two (apart from the romances with the pirate's and their ships).
Finally, Captain Jack Sparrow (the gorgeous Johnny Depp) got his love story with the beautiful Angelica, played by 'La Encantadora', Penélope Cruz. She was an old fling. Well, they truly loved each other no matter how much they said they didn't.
Then, there was the relationship between the boy who had a faith, Philip (Sam Clafin) and a captured man-eating mermaid, Syrena (Astrid Berges-Frisbey). He saved her and she saved him in different ways. The end for them is open to all possibilities as it turned out that the mermaid could walk, but they both went deep into the dark sea together in their last scene.

As I said, action filled the screens with fights between the English, Spanish and BlackBeard's pirates, but there was another group that definitely won a few battles, the mermaids.
The mermaid's faces turned into a vampish style, fangs and different cat-like eyes, just after they had lured a man in and just before they went in for the kill. They jumped, flew, swam and screamed as well as using a whip of some sort to drag people into the dark waters.

It was truly an adventure, a rollercoaster of events as per usual that led up to the climax of the Fountain of Youth.
The Fountain of Youth turned out to be a different element of the world altogether, where the characters rose up through water from the ceiling and landed in a wave of mist. More action occurred as all three voyeurs arrived in the Fountain of Youth together. BlackBeard lived up to be the selfish pirate he was and Jack Sparrow saved his 'damsel in distress'.

A few images of the film itself...

(apart from the last one, I think this is the third, sorry for the mix up! my bad!)

As you can see from the images, there are a mixture of emotions that occur throughout the film.

Truly 11/10

Royal Wedding

I was one of the 120,000(!) people attending Hyde Park yesterday to watch the marriage of Will & Kate.

Hana and I rose from bed and got ready. Heels were nearly worn. I am so glad beyond relief that I didn't wear them due to the grass, uneven roads, tubes and the fact that hardly anyone there wore them or even got dressed up!
We, at least, dressed smartly for the occasion.

We found a space near the front of the three massive screens which had the Royal Wedding coming through loud and clear (and live).
That's it girls, Will has gone...
Harry lock your doors at night!

I cannot express enough how excited and patriotic the atmosphere was! It was phenomenal how many people turned out, some even dressed up in wedding dresses, the royal guards and there was even a 60s union jack dress out and about!
I wish I had a camera that actually worked to illustrate all this! Honestly, it was just fab!

After getting a little tearful at the wedding, it was time for food and the drinking started! Or carried on in some cases!
Chilli on a jacket potato... YUM!

And!... there were free photo booths! The kinds like in America were you can get a strip of four different pictures!
I was not ready for the first one. It was quite hilarious (this was before the drinking).

Dancing around to the band that was playing great music... a lot was MJ so I was happy.

Images of Hyde Park...

I was one of those people!

At around 4pm, Hana and I left the park and went on to Camden for a bit of shopping. In the Wedding mind, I was looking for a dress for my cousin's which is in July! I need a new dress! And I am determined to shape up for it!

I bought one thing: a necklace and earring combo, elephant style.
I didn't find a dress, sadly.

We left at around 7pm, so it is safe to say that after a ten and a half hour day, our legs were aching and I wanted to climb into my PJ's.

Roll on my night out in Croydon!
Tiger Tiger here I come!

P.S. Hana wrote me a letter whilst she was a tad drunk that I said I would post on here:

I'm Hana
I'm drunk
laa laa laa
I <3 Faye

Girl & Wolf

The new film Red Riding Hood is out now starring Amanda Seyfried and believe me, it is one of my top picks.
I have been following the progress of the Twilight director's film since I fell upon it late last November. From the trailers, I can see a dark thriller filled with unrequited love which is of course something that everyone wants although the whole Romeo & Juliet scenario is becoming a bit overrated (I'm still a huge fan of the genre!) Also, it seems that the genre of the fantastic is back once again with the fantastic one being the werewolf which is one of the new big plots of Hollywood cinema.
Just think of the following:
Twilight
The Vampire Diaries
The Wolfman
Van Helsing

However, this story has come a long way since the story was told to the famous Brothers Grimm by their grandmother in the mid-nineteenth century where a little girl in a red hood goes through the woods to her grandmothers house only to be faced with the Big Bad Wolf.

The truth is, there are connotations of a red hood meaning prostitute as the hoods are what they used to wear early in the sixteenth century. Therefore, the innocent fairytale Little Red Riding Hood
could be seen as a child prostitute full of sexual connotations.
Now, the 2011 hit film has a hint of sex all the way through because unrequited love generally links with passion.
This film is no fairytale so it seems.

Theses images are to die for in the regeneration of the fairytale theme in fashion society, especially the latter with the long white dress that reminds me of a simple wedding dress cloaked in a blood red hood and the surrounding wolves are a touch of reality.

The film is a must see!
I cannot wait to see how Catherine Hardwicke has presented the old tale but there is no doubt that every scene is beautiful.
