Shortilicious.

Here in Murcia, it is 27 degrees, and it is after 6pm. I am loving the sun right now and it will only get warmer, sunnier and better as time goes on!

After school/work (whatever you want to call it), I wandered down Gran Vía and had a little nose in Blanco. Oh my God! I need to go back this later this week, or early next week because they have a new amazing range of shorts in there. I have to buy them! To be fair, I haven't been on a shopping spree in a while and I need some nice shorts for my birthday weekend, various trips around Spain, my June travels, Ibiza and the summer holidays - wherever I end up.

Shopaholic has surfaced once again.

The fact that I'm buying new shorts may also mean that I need to buy some new tops/shoes to go with them too.

I may go ahead and buy the majority of this shorts to add to my collection.

Now, this wouldn't be an SG article without an appearance from Topshop or River Island and a how to style it post...

Summer is practically here for me and very soon the legs will be out on show!

Shorts are so much better than short skirts when it comes to day wear too. I don't want to walk around with the fear of a slight breeze lifting my skirt for the whole world to see my knickers! It is safe to say that with summer daytime, I will be opting for shorts: mini, long, denim, sporty...

Casual Work Wear

Today was my first day as a language assistant in a school here in Murcia. It still is my first day as it is only midday but I am currently waiting to hear from el director to see if he has sorted my timetable and wants me to come in for the afternoon. It is all very exciting!

Over the weekend, I was thinking to myself what on Earth am I going to wear for school?! I love saying that: school. Anyway, I settled for my Zara black maxi skirt, a patterned t-shirt and a short sleeved, long(ish) cardigan that Mum bought me for Christmas. With my trusty black boots to finish it off. It is a very casual look, but a little less casual than black leggings and a t-shirt. This kind of outfit will come out at some point during the week.

I love doing these kind of outfit posts so feast your beautiful eyes on this casual work wear one.

An outfit for every day of the week.

As always, these outfits have been made up from the Topshop and River Island clothes. I really can't wait to go home at Easter and have a decent shopping day in town.

I've gone for a mixture of looks to keep it interesting. I can't imagine the day when (if!) I have to wear a plain trouser/skirt suit every day for five days of the week. If I have anything to do with my career path (which obviously I do) I will be going to the office in things like this. Maybe not the jeans as that may be too casual. Over in Spain, pretty much anything goes so that is why a pair of jeans have graced the outfit board.

This morning, I was shown around the school a little bit. It is huge. Like I said, I haven't received my horario (timetable) yet which I may get if they call me to go back in this afternoon. Fingers crossed I get it today or tomorrow so that I can sort Madrid and home out!

There's A Hole In Your Ear

If you didn't know it already, I am one of those people who like tattoos and piercings. I have many of both and I will be getting more. It is an addiction.

In Spain, I tried buying a pack of studded earrings from one of the shops that I regularly go to but the earrings kept on falling out because the backs of them didn't fit properly. I was supposed to buy a load more from Topshop or River Island or Republic (favourites) whilst I was at home during Christmas and New Year, but I forgot. Now, I really wish I'd remembered because I've hardly got any studs here. It's a good job I'm going to London on Thursday! Very, very, very excited about that trip by the way!

I will be purchasing quite a collection this weekend, but not all of these!

Party Dresses

Season of the party dresses is already in full swing, and this year there are a load of different styles to choose from. Granted, some of the styles from Topshop are not my thing (I know. Shock horror!), I went shopping there and saw some nice things. That will come in another post.

All from Topshop.

I have found all these online that I really love in one way or another. I wouldn't wear some of them but only because they would definitely not suit my body shape. You'd have to really brave the cold against your stomach in that mint green number! And, the red and gold dresses are definitely for those girls who are the stars of the show!

In life news, I have been ill all week, but I am on the mend just in time for Christmas! I was supposed to go out tonight with my friends but obviously now that can't happen. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to Spoons tomorrow with some friends for a good ole' catch up! Then, again on Monday for a catch up with more friends, and then it's Christmas Day!

I did my Christmas wrapping yesterday which was really fun. I love wrapping presents!

I've started thinking about my birthday and summer plans too. I know that it is a very long way off, but I'm really excited!

Lazy Day Wear

Sometimes everybody has one of those days (or weeks) where they just want to slob around their bedroom and watch re-runs of 90210 or The Vampire Diaries. Or, it is also that time of year for students, just before we can get excited about going home for Christmas, when there is that dreaded cloud looming over us called D-Day. And that means that we have to spend days and nights cooped up in the library (or in bed) reading material and writing up to 3000 words of a topic we've been studying for the past three months. I have to write around 5000 words by the 10th on something that I have no idea where to start. Plus, it's in Spanish!

Instead of staying in your PJs (and staying in bed - it's not a good idea), get up early and get some reading done, after eating breakfast whilst watching an episode of 90210. Then take a shower and get comfortable in some warm leggings and an oversized jumper, or tracksuit bottoms and a baggy tee.

I've added five tees so that it's for five full days of work/laziness just before the Xmas holiday.

However you like to spend your days chilled out on the sofa, you can do it in style, just incase somebody disturbs you and comes knocking on your door. This way you're fully prepared for anything, but with comfort! And if you're off to the library at 10pm, it doesn't mean you have to look your worst. However, if you imagine that image of a girl with scraped back hair, leggings and an oversized jumper with sleep in her eye, that would probably be what I look like when I go to the library.

What To Wear: Bonfire Night

From what I've seen on Facebook and Twitter, there has already been a weekend filled with fireworks and bonfires. But, tonight is the night. It is afterall the 5th November!

I remember the times when I was younger, to early teen years, when I would walk to Central Park with family, and later friends to watch the massive bonfire with that tiny chair on top and a fake Guy Fawkes.

I wish that Spain celebrated Bonfire Night just so I could go and see some fireworks somewhere. I'll have to make an effort when I'm back in London next year to go to Hyde Park, unless I'm working which will probably be the unlucky case.

With Bonfire Night, despite the raging fire, it will be freezing in England, so get the hats and gloves out along with biker boots and scarves. Basically wrap up very warm.

Of course this is only one look; you could go with a skirt and thick tights plus a long winter coat, or leggings and an oversized jumper with more layers underneath combined with wellies if it is wet and muddy where you are.

Whatever you wear tonight, enjoy the fireworks and the bonfire with that fake Guy Fawkes on top whilst I'm stuck in a lecture room until 8pm and then have to come home without seeing any sparkler this year. And, stay safe!

Knits & Maxis

Lately, around Spain, I have seen a load of knitted jumpers that I want to buy for the festive holidays in oh-so-cold England as well as a load of maxi skirts. I bought some hi-lo skirts today to be paired with knitted tights for Xmas. I have been spreading my 'style' wings and taken onboard new cuts and styles that I would never have thought about buying back home, in England. So, I am grateful to Spain for that, and it's very good chain of shops full of cheap but fabulous clothes!

However, for this post, I am sticking to the UK high streets, and two of my all time favourite stores, River Island & Topshop... as always for SG posts!

Undoubtedly, I will be making more jumper and maxi skirts purchases. It's a nice difference to the usual black leggings and cardigan combo that I wear practically every day during the winter. It is also a good excuse to go and shop some more!

I am slowly becoming the real life version of Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Topshop Turns Spooky

This is yet another Halloween post. I am going all out this year because I have come to love the entirety of it; the dressing up, the pretending to be someone else, the spooky music, scary films (not so much because I hate horrors!) and the decorations. I wish Britain was a little more like America in this way as they go all out for Halloween!

This post is Topshop crazy, as is the majority of my fashion & style posts!

As always, I would love to buy every single item on this inspiration board, and the one below!

It's true that we all like to dress up as something completely different for the Halloween weekend, Halloween party or Halloween night out. But, during the day, we don't really think about it. It is just another day in the office/classroom/home etc. Why not this year, take some inspiration from Topshop? Wear black lace, black nail varnish, black accessories during the day to get into the spirit!

Black is back.

Shop the Little Shop Of Horrors here.

Look out for even more Halloween related posts very soon.

HerUni: The Halloween Special - What To Wear?

Halloween is right around the corner with just two weeks to go! It is that time of year that we have always loved since childhood. Those were the times we spent getting dressed up, going to scary parties, and knocking on neighbours doors shouting “Trick or Treat!” Now, there is usually a massive fancy dress party in the local Union or club.
What is on every girls mind in the run up to Halloween is, what do I wear on that night out? Nowadays, the normality is to be as sexy as you can with your outfit. Think Mean Girls when Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) turns up to that house party full of sixteen year olds who look like they should not be wearing those clothes at their age, especially that unforgettable bunny outfit that Regina George (Rachel McAdams) pulls off. Another theme of outfits that seem to be all over the shelves nowadays is Halloween versions of Alice In Wonderland and Little Red Riding Hood. When I was a little girl, all I wanted to dress up as was a witch, not a fairy tale or Disney character.
Nevertheless, with our busy student schedules, and lack of money to throw away on just one fancy dress outfit, why not buy clothes from the high street that you can dress up to suit one of the classic Halloween personas this year? This way, you have a brand new outfit that can be worn more than once a year.
Welcome to the firey pits of Hell. The female version of the Devil is deemed to be sexy, powerful, and the ultimate ‘Lady in Red’. Instead of buying a tacky PVC dress, or the shortest red skirt imaginable, go towards the more elegant look with a long red dress and red stilettos. Wear strong black liner with mascara, and complete the look with blood red lips and nails. You will feel sexy and sophisticated with this look, and you will definitely turn heads in this outfit.
Welcome to the darkness. Another classic is the vampire. As young women, we can allow ourselves to be a little more sexy. Historically (and if you have seen all the vampire films and television shows, old and new), the female vampire is flawless, beautiful and seductive. For this night, and every other without the fangs, you can mirror the same image with a simple fitted LBD, bloodstained lips, dark eye makeup, bloodied nails with a cracking pair of sky high black stilletos to complete the look.
Welcome to the Witching Hour. As I said before, transforming into a witch when I was a kid was so exciting. To have my mother make me up with her dark red lipstick, completed with a spider drawn on my cheek with black eyeliner is one of my cherished moments from early childhood. Now that I’m twenty, if I were to become a classic witch, I would be doing my own makeup using black everything. Create a black smoky eye, using dark greys with black around the outer corner. A black laced dress with laced tights creates the perfect witch silhouette, and to top it off, a tall black hat. For your feet, witches can magic up anything, so why not a pair of beautiful laced up boots? You are bound to be the tallest girl in the room with all the added inches.
Welcome to your nine lives. A witches pet, the cat, is another simple yet traditional Halloween costume. Or, you could become the Catwoman. Either way, the following high street outfit will inspire you to head in the right direction. Black wet look leggings are easy to put on, plus a black strapless bralet – both of which can be worn again and again casually or dressed up – are the base of your outfit. Add black shoe-boots to add height, and you are practically there. A cat mask is a must. If not, find some cat ears that you can buy from the high street at stores such as Topshop, River Island, or Claire’s Accessories. Makeup wise, again it is the classic black liner. Create cat eyes with this, and add a spectacular amount of mascara to your lashes. Red lips and black nails complete the look.
Welcome to the graveyard. As a skeleton, you will have been dead for years, but that doesn’t mean you have to look rough and dirty. In the fashion world, a skeleton editorial would never be like this. Instead, the model would look a little bit edgy with full skeleton makeup, and fabulous clothes. Head to Topshop where they have gone skull and bone crazy with their clothes and accessories. Grab a pair of black leggings with bones painted on, plus a black and white bralet to create the balance of black and white. Add a black heel with buckles to create the edgy look of a high-fashion skeleton. For your makeup, head to a fancy dress store for black and white face paint, and get creative.
These are my top five classic looks for Halloween with a fashion twist. If you bought an entire outfit from one of those boards, think how many times you could wear it after Halloween, perhaps even once a month. More importantly, you can mix and match, these pieces to suit the rest of your wardrobe and your style.
What is a fashion post without the accessories? Even dead, evil, and magical creatures need pieces of jewellery to complete their entire look! Following is a huge amount of accessories to mix and match with the outfit of your choice. All items are from Topshop, currently available on the website.

I'll be writing another HerUni Halloween post soon!

You Have Three Wishes

One of my wishes would be to be able to buy whatever clothes I wanted, whenever I wanted: very selfish of me... And, if any girl who loves fashion denies that she would do the same, she is a liar.

I haven't made a wishlist in a while, since Christmas last year I think, but at the moment, I am lusting after so many clothes/shoes/jewellery/accessories etc. that I had to make a quick October Wishlist post! At the moment, my bank is very much hating me so I'm trying to reign in the spending. Trying, but failing. Plus, Christmas is coming up, and if I buy anyone presents, I spoil them. I like to spoil people, and make sure they have the best present ever!

Keep on wishing...

The majority of this is from good old Topshop & River Island of course, as all my posts usually consist of! As you can also see, I am going through another 'rock chick'/'biker' phase yet again! It will never get old, especially as there is a load of studs and leather out in the stores right now.

I now need to rush off to my two hour lecture until eight! It is, however, 30 degrees today in Sunny Spain!

What's Going In My Bag

Tomorrow I go to V!!!

I am very excited despite having to get up at stupid o'clock so we can get a good camping spot! I went shopping again today with Kerry (my cousin who I'm going with) which was a good idea although we did spend quite a bit, especially in Claire's Accessories for lots of accessories: neon crayons, floral halos, animal eye masks etc.

I've sorted stuff that I need to pack which is a lot! And I've took some photographs of what I'm going to take & even styled my outfits. It's my first go at proper styling for blogging, as in laying the clothes out with the accessories to go with!

Also, it's Kerry's birthday on Saturday so you'll see some party stuff which I'm really excited to use in the middle of a muddy field!

So there is a few bits! I love the geek glasses with moustache thing going on! Definitely going to be wearing them a lot! As you can see, I've gone a bit crazy on accessories and jewellery and the like! I look my accessories. I probably won't wear half of it but lets hope!

I've styled the outfits for over the weekend. Yes, I know that it will probably be freezing cold but I have waited five months to get my festival shorts on! Bring on the cold! And the mud! So, day 1 is tomorrow which is just basically full of travelling so I want comfort but want to keep that festival feeling for when I get there. I'll be taking loads of pictures this weekend too! I haven't put accessories in the first picture but I probably will wear a few accessories. It just depends how alive I am at 6am tomorrow morning! Day 2 is Kerry's birthday! I bought this t-shirt and these shorts a couple of months ago, and I'll be accessorising it up! I'll also be taking my Primark mac for the cold/when it rains. Lots of accessories! Day 3 I'm going to go a bit more neon despite the floral cross! I have glowing bracelets and glow stick glasses (I didn't realise I'd bought them!) On the day of returning home, I'll be throwing on whatever really because when it's time to pack up and leave, all you wanna do is get home, to a nice, warm shower!

If you're going to V this weekend, have a great time! Might see you there, and hope you're not taking as much as me... Think I may overpack for one weekend!

Chilling With Friends

The next few weekends before I go to Spain are fully booked up seeing my friends and family. I will have a lot of photos and memories for when I get on that plane to leave for ten months!

This weekend, we are having an early birthday party/gathering for my friend Charlie because some of us are at V Festival next weekend (ahh, excitement). So, I thought that I would do a bit of a what to wear kinda post for chilled outdoor events such as BBQ's or picnics or walks in the park etc.

In all honesty, I won't be buying a new outfit for this weekend so I'll have to rummage through my clothes for a summer BBQ outfit, but I can take inspiration from these High Street outfits.

Enjoy your weekend whatever you do!

I say that now but hopefully I will post again before the weekend.

Sun. Sand. Sea.

The title pretty much explains itself. I went on holiday to Portugal nearly two weeks ago, and came back last Friday. It was eight days in 30 degree heat with my family. It was a lovely holiday, and the beaches in and around Tavira, Faro are beautiful! There is a kind of camping site on Ilha de Tavira which I'd love to go to with friends (and it's really cheap!).

I went to the beach twice during the eight days we were there, and opted for a relaxing day by the pool when my family went to the beach for the third time which was bliss! I even swam 100 lengths to kickstart a new health and fitness regime whilst on holiday!

Beach Outfit 1:

Hat: Can't remember.
Bikini: Matalan
Shorts: Republic

Beach Outfit 2:

Bikini: Matalan
Playsuit: Primark

That hat was a God-send on holiday. It kept my head cool, and it went with everything during the day! I got it a while ago so have no idea where I bought it. It was probably somewhere like Primark or Matalan or New Look. I needed some new bikinis for my jollies. Mum bought me two brand new ones from Matalan a while back. They're great because they're strapless but come with an attatchable strap. I have to wear strapless bikinis on holiday because I hate tan lines around my shoulders and back. I've got a tan line across my back now and I'm not loving it. I'll be in Spain soon so that will sort that tan line out! The Republic shorts are so comfy! They suit me because I've got quite chunky thighs so they don't strain across them, and are cut diagonally instead of straight across which is better! (Attention all pear shapes!) And finally my little beach playsuit. I bought this about two/three years ago I think. I've also got a black one with a floral design. They are mega comfy and easy to throw on over a bikini/costume. It's really light material so you can fit more in your suitcase!

Tavira Day Outfit:

Hat: Same as before
Top: Topshop
Shorts: Same as before
Sandals: New Look

I know that you can't see any shorts but I promise you that I am wearing some! I got quite a lot of use out of these shorts this week. The top I bought when I spent a LOT of money in Topshop in Putney a while back. Again, it's light and easy to wear. Usually, I hate wearing sandals because the bit inbetween the toes irritates me. These sandals on the other hand are so comfy! I wore them everyday, and have worn them most days since my holiday! They were definitely a good buy!

All of us went out for dinner three times during the week to see what the local restaurants were like. I only have two outfits to show as I spilt liquor over my camera and broke it two nights before leaving!

Evening Oufit 1:

Dress & belt: Rock Bottom
Sandals: As before.

Excuse my eyes being half closed! It always happens to me with camera flashes. This dress is the dress I bought in the last what I bought today post. I bought it from a small boutique in Chester. It is comfortable, is made from lovely material, and is my favourite style right now - the hi-lo skirt.

Evening Outfit 2:

(with my padre)

Slide: New Look
Dress: New Look

I love this dress because it makes me feel like a mermaid. I love the colours, the patterns, and most definitely, the way it falls completely to the floor. I have to hoist it up when I'm walking around (not good when there's hay on the floor!); it is still a lovely dress.
I decided to do a fishtail plait this night to go with my personal theme/style of under the sea/mermaid-esque, which was quick and simple to do. You can find my own video on a blog post very early on, near the beginning of this blog.

All in all, I have a fabulous holiday with my family, and actually had quite a lot of outfit shots taken without realising. Maybe this could be the start of outfit posting. Who knows?!

The HerUni Festival Guide: Part II

The first instalment of the HerUni Festival Guide was all about the footwear. This instalment is all about what to wear to your festival! That’s right, you want to look your best (as can be without showers and mirrors etc.) whilst jumping around in the mud, sleeping in tents, and of course, listening to the best musicians rock out on stage in front of you and thousands of other people.
It doesn’t matter what kind of style you are. As I’ve said before in my other posts (like Wedding Wear), there is something for everybody! You can glam it up with pretty dresses (I would not under any circumstance recommend heels or long flowing dresses that will inevitably get ruined by the mud), cute accessories, and wacky makeup. Or, keep on your sunnies with a black leather jacket and ripped denim for the rock chick look. If you’re a folky girl, you know what to do. Add the fringing and the feathers!

We Like Short Shorts

As you saw, I bought two new pairs of denim shorts. I am loving shorts right now! Hopefully the sun will come out a little bit more so I can actually get my legs out and have a little bit of a tan by the time I go to Portugal in July.

Outfit 1: Shirt: Republic, Shorts: Topshop, Boots: Missguided.co.uk
Outfit 2: Top: Republic, Shorts: Topshop, High Tops: Republic
Outfit 3: Top: Topshop, Shorts: Topshop, Shoes: Missguided.co.uk
Outfit 4: Top: Topshop, Shorts: Topshop, Shoes: Missguided.co.uk

These are four different styles to rock whenever you like; be it during the day or evening, for any occassion (maybe not number 2... that's for working out!). These heels are some of my favourites. I wish I had more space in my bedroom for more shoes!
