Barrats Do Wellies

Festival Fever is getting closer. This post is a sneaky peak of part of my six-part post for HerUni.com. I will be making inspiration boards for six different things all to do with festivals! This will actually be part two on HerUni, but here it is for all you lovely blog readers!

Enjoy!

What are your favourite pair?

Summer Shoes

I can't wait to get my heels on this summer! I have loads already but I'm feeling some new wedges! I've seen a pair on chockersshoes.com in More Magazine, but I haven't found them on the website! They're one of my favourite as well as a floral pair from New Look! I can't wait for the Sun, Sand, and Shoes!

So, there are all the shoes that I'm loving at the moment! I love the bright colours and the floral patterns. I don't usually wear wedges, and normally I despise peeptoe, but I really want/NEED a pair this Summer!
As inspired by La Petite Fashionista.

New Pillow Magazine Post!

As you all know, I've started writing for Pillow Magazine. I've now written three pieces, all in the film category. I've been lucky to be able to write all about film as I don't really write much on film anymore. I do love my films though!

This new article is all about Sundance Film Festival happening later this month:

Inked!

Almost a week ago, I got my fourth tattoo. A few months ago, I posted my inspiration which you can find here. In the end, I decided not to have any of those feathers and was newly inspired by the following one just a couple of weeks ago.

I fell in love with this feather because it was a little bit different which is what everybody wants: to be that little bit more individual than any other person. The waiting game for this tattoo was originally when I returned from Spain in 2013, but I couldn't wait that long. So, it came to this Summer, but my impatience (I am very impatient) got the better of me, and I decided to get it done in the Easter Hols, whilst I was at home. Mum and Dad actually let me get it done! Mum's said it is the very, very, very last one! I've said it too because the pain on my ribs was sometimes unbearable! And I like getting tattoos done!

Mine the day of tattooing:

Mine is smaller, and thinner which is better for my body shape, and I think it looks more antique to go with the idea of the quill pen. I've added the word 'passion' underneath it as writing is my passion (as all you readers know!). It's itchy now, and has started to peel so it's getting better!

Never again!... For a few years!

HerUni: Wedding Wear - Hair & Beauty

This is the long awaited second part of Wedding Wear. The first part was all about the wedding day outfit combined with the accessories to go with it which you can find here. In that article, I showed you what to wear if you were boho, girly, classic, sporty, or edgy complete with shoes and accessories! In this post, you will find what I think you should wear above your shoulders aka your hair and your makeup. These are inspirational ideas that you can play around with in order to be the perfect guest (which suits your personal style) without upping the bride!
With the floaty dress, and arms full of accessories, you need to put your hair up in order to get the full effect of the entire outfit. Normally when you think boho, you think long wavy hair with flowers in. For any other day, you can do this, but for a wedding, it is a no go area. As a wedding guest, you want to show sophistication in your cool, airy style, so braid your hair in lots of mini braids at the front. Make sure they are all different sizes to create a magical look, Put your hair up at the back and you are done! You can find a larger image of this look at the following link: http://keenanevans.com/2009/12/28/boho-braid/. For your makeup, paint your pretty eyes in green for an elfish sparkle. You can do smoky eyes, light green eyes, dark green eyes, any shade that you want. TOP TIP: Line the eyeshadow underneath your eye also so that you create sparkling eyes wherever you go!
If you are going mega girly to your relative/friend’s wedding, complete your look with ’Halo Hair’ (as inspired by Donna Karen at her SS12 show). You will probably need the help of your hairdresser, so print this off and take it into the salon in order to get it perfect! This style will not only keep your hair off your face, it will also keep it neat and tidy for the entire day and night, so you probably wouldn’t have to even think about it, let alone worry. Bonus! For your makeup, take a tip from Camilla Belle (and makeup.becomegorgeous.net) and go for hot pink lips with natural eye makeup. TOP TIP: Line your lips first so you don’t look like a clown!
For the classic retro look, deep part your hair and with heat rollers, carefully wind large sections of your hair into the rollers and leave to set. This will create the classic look. Once finished, carefully brush out the very curly pieces and spray your hair with extra hold hairspray (incase the rain/wind comes out to harm you!). To get the Golden Hollywood look, go for gold like Diane Kruger, and make your eyes and lips shimmer with sparkles! This will not only make you look a little bit more tanned, it will also complete the classic look perfectly and compliment all the colours of your outfit! TOP TIP: For the classic look, opt for a slight tan to enhance the golden makeup.
In order to keep that sporty look, but make it a bit more eligible for a wedding day, wear your hair in a fishtail braid. It is a tiny bit more feminine than a normal Lara Croft-esque braid. This braid will keep the hair off your face so you won’t have to keep tucking your hair behind your ears, and you can just wear your hair without worrying. Although, TOP TIP: Do keep hair pins in your bag in the case of flyaways! In order to keep in line with the sporty style I created for you, your eye makeup is purple. Wear plum purple to make your eyes pop out against the pastel colours that you will be wearing. Or, wear light purple blended into dark in order to create a smokey look that isn’t grey and black.
This is definitely for all you confident rock chicks out there! Or, just all you confident chicks who want to try something a little bit new and a little bit different! For the hairstyle, you might need to grab that hair fanatic friend to help you along the way, or pop down to your hairdresser and show him/her this image of what you want. Warning: They may not be able to attach the small hoops. You don’t need them anyway. Maybe, instead of the hoops, add a black or silver piece of ribbon to braid through. You will also need a lot of hairspray and a (or a few) backcombing comb(s). The makeup is the classic smokey eye, with grey and black. Wear the lighter colours on the inner corner of the eyes, and the darker on the outside. Remember to wear your eyeshadow underneath your eyes as well as on top. TOP TIP: Try making your smokey eyes winged on the outer corners to create a completely new look.
Enjoy dressing up in a new way for your style, or try a new style for that wedding that you have been invited to!

Happy Birthday!

A year ago today, I created this brand new blog. I can't believe it's been a whole year! So much has happened in just one year. There's been highs and lows but today is a blog celebration, because, let's face it, I didn't expect to carry on with one project for so long!

This is a quick post as today I have to revise Spanish, read Dracula and Intimas Suculencias so that I can actually do well during the last hurdle of Second Year. Then it's off to Spain, for a whole year! Scary!

What HerUni Has Done For Me

A few weeks ago, I went to North London to see a wide range of Denby products: beautiful pottery that has been handmade, handpotted, handpainted, you name it.
Through HerUni, I have met so many interesting people in journalism, design, PR, you name it! It has truly been a fabulous journey, and I am loving every part of it!

A preview of my article:

You can read the full article here.

I also received a great goodybag that I'll try and post at the end of the month (I left it in London!)

The week after the Evening with Denby, I was invited to Middlesex University for a fantastic fashion show! I need to write an article for that on the HerUni web page. That will be up by the end of next week, as will the second half of Wedding Wear.

New Month

Lately, I've been lacking in posts. March was such a busy and stressful month! I had so many assignments due in, and I had events for HerUni that I want to share with you but can't as I have to write them up for the site first! I've also been writing for Pillow Magazine aswell.
Right now, I am at home, up North. I'll be here for three weeks and cannot wait to see everybody! I've even got a family wedding at the end of the month which is very exciting!

Another piece of exciting news is that I will (hopefully) be getting a new tattoo this week! I'm going to keep it under wraps for now as I don't know exactly when. I'm really excited though!

I want to post quite a bit this month to make up for last.
Hope I do!

Heres some inspiration for April...

Enjoy April!
