HerUni Article: Anthropologie

A lifestyle store set in Chelsea is the place to be if you want cute interiors and fabulous eveningwear for the upcoming party season. This store has the air of romanticism in it and every piece it sells. Next month, Anthropologie is bringing out all the cocktail dresses and statement jewellery that you desire. Although, I warn you to save up or dip into your “rainy day” stash, as some of the items can be outside of a student’s budget!
This season, the collaboration for the exquisite new range includes Anton Heunis, a Portuguese statement jewellery designer. He is a fantastic addition to Anthropologie’s collection. This season is all about vintage, and one can see the jewellery and dresses are clearly inspired by vintage styles. When I visited, a mannequin on show wore the necklace below with a floor length navy dress. It was a beautiful outfit. However, it had a larger price tag than your usual high street stores. But of course one can justify the high-quality materials and clearly intricate craftsmanship.

The navy dress which accompanied the jewel, was designed exclusively by Pyrus (a brand which has its own online store). If you do want to save and splash the cash on one statement garment, definitely do it on this dress. But as you would have to save at least £500 to buy it I would suggest you think twice before making such investment.
The beautiful dresses in the Anthropologie store are something that we students can only gaze at in the shop window with desire. They are stunningly gorgeous and would make any girl feel like a modern princess in them. Think Kate Middleton, the characters of Gossip Girl or Made In Chelsea. These are the type of characters likely to be found shopping in Anthropologie.
As I said, Anthropologie is a lifestyle store stocked with fabulous designer wear. It’s almost like a beautiful show home. The unique books and home decorations it sells are my favourite parts of the new season’s collection. The thing that struck me the most during my visit were the homemade-looking Christmas decorations. These consisted of newspaper animals that you would find in the classic winter story: robins, polar bears, reindeer plus other woodland creatures. These would be cute decorations for your flat or house. There was also a fabulous old wooden desk complete with an old fashioned typewriter. Next to it lay some small notebooks and behind it there was a pictureframe and a bookshelf full of old and new books. A dream setup for a very trendy study.
So next time you’re roaming about the streets of Chelsea, head to the Anthropologie store. The space alone is beautiful. The water decoration at the back of the store give it a feeling of tranquillity. There may also be some small gifts that you can buy for friends and family this Christmas. However, if you want to buy some fashion I would recommend heading for the sale section to see what’s in stock!

The New Roey MyUni Editor!

Yes, that is correct. I am now an Editor for HerUni.com! Me and another girl will be collaborating and creating the Roey MyUni page! I am so excited for this opportunity and to become even more involved with the HerUni family. A huge thanks to Geraldine Haneine for giving me this opportunity and I cannot wait to get sorted!
Now then, this was on Friday and it turned out to be such a hectic day. I got up earlier than usual for a Friday and set off in heels to NW London. It only took a bus and a tube but my feet were killing me as I returned to Roehampton to meet my fellow pig (another post will explain that later) for lunch. Then, a lecture. I received my first written piece of Second year: 65/2.1! Extremely happy with that!
Then work for Halloween Bop which will be later posted about in my Halloween Weekend Special.

So, what does a girl wear to trek across London and meet with Editor-in-Chief on an established website/blog that has won an award from the Cosmo Blog Awards?
I will tell you that it took a while to think about but this is what I wore:

And the finished look complete with blazer...

Top: Miss Selfridge
Skirt: Miss Selfridge
Tights: River Island
Shoes: New Look
Blazer: Primark
A very High Street Look.

The make-up:

Step 1: Cover lid with grey eye shadow.
Step 2: Pencil a line across lid and the waterline and underneath.
Step 3: Coat lashes with mascara.

I Did It!

I finished my essay! I'll go over it tomorrow at some point. Before or after I do my Latin American Revolutions essay plan and bibliography.
It is non stop work, work, work.

Here are some nice pics that do not involve essay writing:

A little bit of everything fashion...

Stresshead; Hollyoaks; HerUni News

This is the way I am looking at my laptop except my hair is scraped back and I just generally don't look like that.  I have so much work due for next week that I want to curl up in a ball and shove it to the back of my mind. Currently, I'm writing a Children's Literature essay about Treasure Island and Robina Crusoe which don't get me wrong is really interesting to read. I've done my essay plan and I'm following it but after every sentence I just give up and procrastinate for five minutes more which is not going to get me anywhere! I aim to finish this essay tonight which will be a struggle. Even if I work to the early hours of tomorrow morning, I am FINISHING this essay!

I'm taking a break in an hour to watch Hollyoaks! I am too excited about this Silas storyline! I literally cannot wait until it all comes out which I think will be around Christmas time as that is when he first arrived. Can you believe that? I found this fab pic in time for Halloween; it was posted on the Hollyoaks website.

In other news, I have a meeting at the HerUni headquarters on Friday. I'm not going to say why incase it all goes terribly wrong. I am so excited though! I cannot wait to get dressed up in my heels and be fashionably smart for one weekday. Plus, it will be quite a busy day, which I love when it concerns travelling around London. I have the meeting at 11.30am in NW London, a lecture at 2pm and then work and 9.45pm for Halloween Bop. We bar staff are also getting dressed up. I can't wait!

Beautiful: Blake Lively

First of all, can I just say that it is weird being up and showered this early! I have a lecture in an hour and a half and although I'm not actually ready yet, I am pretty proud of myself for being awake and showered this early.

Anyhow, I was on twitter, because I am always on twitter and I decided to go on the lovely Blake Lively's page and click on her recent pictures. I found this beautiful image that I just had to post!

Isn't she stunning?

Now, if you read my blog, you know how obsessed I am when it comes to Gossip Girl. It is no different for the actors and characters themselves. I've already blogged about Leighton Meester and her beauty before.

So, here is some fabulous inspiration of Miss Blake Lively.
Admire her.

The Words Behind the Picture

As the saying goes a picture paints a thousand words. Therefore, in this blog post I will tell you the words behind my new image at the top of my page.

As you can see, there are seven smaller images that have been collaborated to make my very own collage that represents me and more importantly, Senorita Glamourista.
Firstly, the far left image represents the fashion, style and beauty side of this blog. The writing images are obviously signalling my love of books and writing stories, articles and this blog. Writing is my future which is why the majority of images consist of books. The tattoo image shows my obsession with tattoos and the one that I am getting next, in the not so near future. The old film roll portrays the film reviews that I like to write (although recently, I haven't really done any of that.. sorry!). Queen obviously represents music and my roots. Lastly, the photograph of moi is just to show you who actually writes this blog.

Hope you enjoy the individual images and the collage together.

Book One

One of the reasons that I didn't post so much during September was because I was finishing the first draft of my first novel. I'm not going to say what it is about or anything like that. I just wanted to let you all know (whoever reads this blog) that I have written over 100,000 words which has taken me nearly three years to create and complete.
Writing is what I do best and I've bought a book that will hopefully lead me in the right direction of getting it published.
Fingers crossed!

Lovely Lace; Old Style

One of the key trends this season is returning to the Victorian Era and throwing a load of lace together. I write this blog today as I have a Victorian Lit lecture later on. Currently we're doing about the whole industrial working class novel.
Anyway, back to fashion. My Mum always says that this kind of stuff suits me: the black, the lace, all of it thrown together. Although she says that, I don't actually have anything Victorian style with lace. This may have to be changed soon! It is coming up to November. I might think about some Victorian lace for Christmas Day. It is a special occasion and I can look for that special Victorian style dress.

The fashion designer who created the majority of these beautiful designs for LFW AW11 collections was Giles. It really is a beautiful trend.

I may have to do a bit of online shopping just before Christmas Day arrives and buy possibly all of these items!

Fashion Wonderland

This is just a post for some Alice inspired fashion. I'm studying The Origins of Children's Literature in my second year of uni at Roehampton and this is the book that I am going to do a presentation about. It's not for another four weeks yet but I thought I'd think about it and here is some inspiration.

Also, random: apparently the world is going to end this Friday (which is according to the guy who originally stated that the world was going to end in May). He said that May was the spiritual end but this Friday it is the physical end.
The world is not going to end any time soon. Definitely not in my lifetime!

Thoughts?
