April Inspiration

We are already half way through April! I cannot believe how fast this year is going already. I am not loving it, that's for sure. Before I know it, I'll be back in cold England for good and starting my final year of university.

Like every month, it is (passed) time to create an inspiration board for the month.

Happy April!

1. During the Easter holidays, I was sick. It always happens when I'm home aka Christmas and Easter. Therefore, I didn't get to do as much as I wanted. I did catch up on a load of British TV and I caught up with all the drama of the soaps as I lay on the couch day in, day out.

2. I have been back in Spain for over a week! Time flies when you're having fun etc. I can't believe I leave in less than three months. That will be the end of my year abroad. This makes me very sad. I don't want to leave the sun and the sea!

3. I have so many exciting writing opportunities coming my way at the moment! As a twenty year old, I am really proud of myself and how far I've gotten in the past two years of publishing my work on online blogs and magazines!

4. It was SG's second birthday on the 2nd! So, HAPPY (BELATED) BIRTHDAY SG!

5. Lot's of exciting things coming up in the next few months! This year is definitely in my top two of life so far... Having the best time!

My Latest Ten Pins

I am now a huge fan of Pinterest. I may do a weekly blog update of my latest ten pins. Mostly, I pin different tattoos, not that you can see any here, as I am obsessed with ink. I have other boards such as beauty, hair inspiration, people who inspire, health & fitness, fashion & style, dream wardrobe etc. all of which you can find here.

Happy pinning!

The Month Of March

As I said in the last post, this month has two very important birthdays: Mum's and Dad's. I missed my dad's as I am still in Spain and I will be home two nights before Mum's so that first weekend that I am home (23-24) is going to be a birthday weekend. On the Saturday, Dad is making his homemade steak and kidney pie with homemade chips and peas (I've made him promise that this will happen) and I will give him his prezzies. On the Sunday, it is Mum's birthday so a late lunch out with the family and more presents etc. etc.

Also, this month it is Easter! That means getting fat from a lot of chocolate eggs on top of all the proper English food that I am going to consume over the two weeks I am at home. I swear the thing I talk about most is food.

Other than that, I am supposed to be going to Fallas in Valencia next weekend! I still haven't bought my tickets however. I need to do this!

This weekend, I don't know whether to go out, or stay in and sort out my life/save money. Decisions, decisions... It is also Mother's Day on Sunday! I need to send Mum a card and some flowers!

I need to get my blogging and writing back on track too! ASAP!

(L-R) Hell March; Birthday Celebrations; Easter Fun; Reading ELLE Magazine; Flying Home; Heart; Reading Two Issues Of Glamour; Catching Up With Friends; Lazy Mornings; Loving The Single Life; Home Time; Losing Myself In A Book; Homemade Steak Pie; Happy Mother's Day; Reading And Writing.

All of the images will be happening when I go home. I will be seeing friends and writing whilst I'm in Spain but even more so whilst I'm at home.

Happy times ahead!

Lately On Pinterest

I wrote last month that I had recently opened a Pinterest account and I love it. I love finding all these different inspirations that I would never find on google or photobucket etc. I especially love all the tattoo finds! It's great inspiration.

The Mortal Instruments

I can't remember what Christmas I received the first Mortal Instruments book written by Cassandra Clare. My mum picked it up for me and thought I would like it - something she does every Christmas - and I couldn't put it down.

Finally, this year the movie for that first instalment, The Mortal Instruments, City of Bones will be out in cinemas worldwide. I've memorised the date (sad I know) and I cannot wait to sit there in the pictures to watch it.

I can't remember exactly what happens in the first book because it was that long ago that I read it: I'll be re-reading them all before the first film arrives onto screens. Basically, there is a sixteen year old girl named Clary Fray with red hair and a best friend named Simon. The book starts with them two in their local club; whether it's an under 21 nightclub I do not know. Suddenly, Clary sees the most beautiful boy in the world as is the standard for every young adult book these days. Meet Jace, the golden haired, golden eyed Shadowhunter: half man, half angel sent to the world to save humanity from demons. The thing is, no human was supposed to see Jace or the other boy, Alec because of their glamour that they used. And so starts the questions of Why? How? What? etc. Plus, Clary's mother Jocelyn is kidnapped into another dimension. So, this poor girl Clary has lost her only close blood relative, is now seeing things, has to face the likes of demons, vampires and werewolves, and has fallen for somebody that she really shouldn't. But, I'm not going to spoil that one for you because that's just mean.

The book has a lot of loveable characters in it which many readers can relate to despite the whole other world within New York City.

Onto the film. There has been a load of fanmade videos created for youtube over the years on who the fans wanted cast for the roles of, namely, Clary and Jace. They got their wish with Lily Collins but nobody expected Jamie Campbell Bower at all. Apparently, Cassandra Clare thought he was the perfect Jace, and so got the role. Johnathan Rhys Meyers has the role of the evil character of the series, Valentine, and the lovely irish fella known for Misfits, Robert Sheehan has won the role of Simon Lewis, Clary's best friend.

It is out in cinemas on the 23rd of August this year.

I read book 5 of the series over Christmas. There's only one left to read and then it will be lived on in the cinema for a few years (depending obviously on the income of City of Bones).

Going Home.

I have not blogged in a long time. I have no excuse really because I'm not mega busy or anything. I've become a fan of Pinterest recently to put a load of different inspiration up, mainly to do with 'Ink' which I am loving at the moment.

Technically, as seen as it's after midnight, I go home tomorrow night! I am beyond excited and cannot wait!! I just want to have a full English and a hot Ribena on the couch, in front of the telly, in the evening. That will be happening on Friday among seeing the family!

I want to do so much whilst at home for the short three weeks I'm there, so I've made a list, but with proper SG style, here's an inspiration board.

L-R: Catching up with friends like the crazy people that we are; Making 21st birthday plans (way in advance!); Putting the Christmas tree up (parents have waited for me to come home :)); Eating a massive Xmas dinner; Spending quality time with my family (miss them); Reading loads; Writing what I want to write, not what a university wants me to; Eating a full English; Eating out at an Indian restaurant; Going out with the girls; Getting my hair restyled (I'm liking this - long layers); NYE; Seeing Breaking Dawn (it is at the top of my list!); Going to a panto with family; Being addicted as ever to tattoos.

This is what my diary of the next three weeks will look like, plus other things as plans are made and people come home for Christmas. It looks like I'm about to put on many pounds from all the food I plan to eat! It's a good job I've already thought about exercise for next year (including Zumba!).

I cannot wait to be in the comfiest bed in the world, and have the best sleep ever after getting home early hours of Friday morning!

I'll be blogging more over the Christmas period, and I've planned a couple of Xmas HerUni posts too so look out for them.

This Is Halloween

October is the month of freaky faces, spooky sounds, crazy costumes, and one of the best reasons to throw a party, or go on a mad night out with your friends.
I am looking forward to the end of the month, and I am throwing a Halloween party myself this year. It is my first one, and what a better place to throw it: in Spain! Then, we'll probably all go out to a club or bar somewhere.

As with all my recent posts, this is another inspiration post, so enjoy the pictures, and get inspired for costumes, makeup, decorations, food and drink, and much more!

This picture is a bit larger than normal, but I can't have it half the size because there is so much shown here.

I have started the Halloween countdown already (19 days!) and this is the kickstart of my Halloween preparations!

Under The Sea

Today I found one of my articles for The 405 that I wrote last month. It was a Summer trend post about the fashion inspired from under the sea. My favourite colours are green and blue anyway, so there's reason one for me loving the trend, and I love anything to do with summer. The sea reminds me of summer. There's reason two.

My article for The 405:

I wish I was by the sea right now. I will be in less than a week! I'll be in Portugal with my family, and I cannot wait to get away from rainy England! I need to get a lot of stuff done with regards to writing. I've written three more articles for The 405 today, and I'm writing a film review for Freedom Spark. Journalism is on the up for me at the moment, although I am a tad bored especially in this weather!
Also, finally my room is sorted for Spain! I've got quite a spacious one thank God! Also, this week I've read the 50 Shades trilogy. I read the three books in four days. Safe to say, I was addicted.

The sea trend also reminds me of The Little Mermaid and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

July Inspiration

It's officially Summer... supposedly. All the rain has come instead of the sunshine, although I will be going to Portugal which means holiday, relaxation, and the sun, and sea!

Here's my July inspiration, and some things that I'm looking forward to this month.

(L-R) Mexican inspiration for decorations, My new favourite obsessive read, Summer inspired editorial, Summer hairstyle (always), Portugal beach, Desk/work space inspiration, Surfwear at Fatface, Beautiful coronations, Sunset over the sea.

This will be a great month for me, despite all the rain.
We can hope for summer yet!

SG's Summer Book Club

As an English Literature student, it's kind of an obligation to love books, which I do, otherwise that degree would be a waste of time. However, there's that feeling which we all get (literature students that is) where when we are forced to read a book, we don't enjoy it. That's why I've got lots of books to read over the summer.

Some of the books that I'll be reading are actually from Christmas. That's how long I've waited to read these books... months! Others are from Cancer Research which are featured on a post from earlier this week! I also bought one yesterday from ASDA for £3. Bargain! Can't go wrong! No doubt that through the summer months I'll be adding to the collection of SG's Summer Book Club. Reading is my favourite thing to do, especially whilst on holiday, lounging in the sun!

Best get reading!

What's on your Summer Book Club list?

Charity Shop Finds

Mum and Dad are down in London for the my move back up North. Today we spent two hours packing up my tiny box room which had a lot of stuff in it & then went to Putney to have some food and a wander.
My dad loves charity shops, Oxfam, Cancer Research... you name it, he's been in there. I love them too, for books. As you all know, I'm a HUGE readaholic and I can't wait to be sitting down on a beach/in the garden/anywhere with my nose in a book. I bought three books, and Mum bought me a cute little bracelet too!

I saw The Almost Moon first, having read The Lovely Bones and loved it. Then I read the first sentence of the novel: "When all is said and done, killung my mother came easily." There's not a lot of books that get straight to the point about the dramatic plotline like that! The Pirate's Daughter is a book that I've always seen in Waterstones, and the title has always intrigued me (being a lover of Pirate's and the Caribbean). Then, I spotted A Thousand Splendid Suns which my friend has always recommended I read. It's her favourite book, so I'll be reading that too!... In the sun, on a beach, near the sea. Perfection.
I spotted that bracelet as I was paying for the books, and it's such a lovely little bracelet that I had to have it, and Mum offered to pay! Bonus!

Go into charity shops. You never know what you might find and you're helping out the world!

My Favourite Reads

As a belated World Book Day 2012 I want to share with you some of my favourite reads! As a book lover and story enthusiast and (hopeful) writer, I believe that books are a huge part of our culture. We need books in our lives. Babies learn words and ways of life through story books. Children learn through stories, just as teenagers do. Even adults learn a few things through the stories they read.

As a storyteller, one day I want to write stories with so much love and heart to inspire readers in their everyday lives.

So, in ELLE UK style, here is a list of the books which inspires me.

The Time Traveler's Wife: Audrey Niffenegger

This has to be my favourite book. (Yes, it beats the Twilight Saga and The Vampire Diaries series!) It's about love, and the reality of love combined with something a little out of the ordinary, that isn't vampires or werewolves. The first and only time I read this was the summer before my second year of sixth form. I was 17. We had to read it for English Literature and write down various quotes and summaries of different chapters. It wasn't a difficult task! It is written beautifully and you completely fall in love with Henry and Clare! I would completely recommend!

The Twilight Saga: Stephenie Meyer

When I first found out about the Twilight Saga, it was 2008 when the first film was about to be premiered. I received the first three books for Christmas and read them all within about three or four days. I could not put them down! Meyer is gifted with words, the way she creates an unconventional love between two different beings. The films, I am saddened to say, have become ultimate cheese as of late, and don't do the books justice. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and the rest of the cast are great but some of the late scripts are just cheese.

The Woman in White: Wilkie Collins

As a Literature student, I have to read a lot of books. This year, I've been doing Victorian Literature, and The Woman in White is one of the books that I've enjoyed the most. If I read it again at some point in the future, I would probably enjoy it more due to the lack of stress and force to read it in two weeks. It's a sensation novel, and as a sensation novel has death, lies, manipulation, love, fraud, and other things to contribute to a great story.

The Goddess Guide: Giséle Scanlon

This book has got everything in it that a woman needs! My best friend bought this book first in year ten I think it was, and she took it everywhere with her. I loved poring over each and every detailed, colourful page and taking in every single tip that she gave. I even based two of my HerUni posts on the tips she gives. I would love to buy her later version just to get more of her inspiration!

Peter and Wendy: J.M. Barrie

I watched the Disney version of Peter Pan a million times when I was younger. My favourite characters were TinkerBell and the mermaids. Then came Hook, then the version starring Jeremy Sumpter, but I had never actually read the book until last December for my Children's Literature module. I never realised how sad and tragic the book actually was, and it made me realise that I never want to be left behind. Yes, I'd love to be young for a very long time, but Peter forgets everyone who dies, and that is what is tragic. It is such a creative and lovely book that I want to read over and over again.

Evidently, books will be added to this list as my life goes on, and as I love to read, there will probably be 100 of my favourite reads by the time I get to eighty.
