May Inspiration

May is my favourite month of the year because there is always something happening every weekend throughout it.

Also, it is my Birthday Month! And this year, I am turning 21 in Alicante, on the beach or by the pool side with the majority of my favourite people in the world. It's safe to say that I am looking forward to next weekend!

This weekend, there is a festival in Murcia, SOS 4.8, which I will be attending with one, or more, of my friends.

The fourth weekend I'm taking a trip to my beloved Roehampton to see my lovely uni friends for the weekend of the Summer Ball! I worked it last year so it will be exciting to actually be able to attend it again this year! Plus, seeing all my friends will be amazing because I miss them huge amounts.

And, the weekend after that, my best friend is coming to visit me in Murcia!

On top of all these busy weekends, I have work in my school which I still love, plus I have a tonne of work to do for university too, on top of tutoring sessions and sorting my room out (which I've already started).

(L-R) Family; Birthday Balloons; Beach Bedroom; Interiors; Drinkin' With M' Bitches; Imogen Belfield Ring; Festival Fashion; Pretty Little Dress; Friends On The Beach; Too Many Clothes To Fit In One Suitcase; Summer Lovin'; Peacock Colours

May really is the best month of the year!

Inspire

January is already over and February is already upon us. Time goes too quickly for my liking. Before you know it, the Christmas decs will be going up in the streets again and that will be another year of our lives over and done with.

Anyway, back to the now and not the future, as always here on SG, I have created an inspiration board for the coming month.

February is the month of all things love thanks to St Valentine's Day which is why I have gone for the theme of love as the base of this inspiration board. We have rose-like hair which is something that I would love to be able to do with my hair as well as classic roses and pale pink and white fashion. There are also the obvious images of love: a romantic couple, more flowers, hearts etc.

I also wanted to put what was inspiring me this month: the music of Queen (like every month one day or another), warm, homemade tomato soup which I which I could eat right now! I remember making a really good tomato soup when I was in school between the ages of 12 and 14. I wouldn't know how to do it now though. The aspect of young, wild and free because that is what I am, not so much wild but young and free. Plus, a very cool way of keeping all my earrings in shape. I need to invest in a dream catcher when I go home, which is at the end of next month!

This weekend has been a lazy one compared to the last. This time last weekend I was in The Union stuffing my face with a full monte beef burger with all the trimmings: bacon, cheese, fries, salad - Mmmm. Now I am back on rations. I have spent the past two days in bed despite the lovely weather outside, as well as tidy and change my room about. I've been missing out on highs of 28 degrees.

Tomorrow, this will all change as I start my new job in a local school. I am very excited, especially after finalising all of the paperwork last week. I am not so excited for the 8:55am start. But, this means that I will be out and about in the lovely warm city of Murcia. I'm not complaining.

Another exciting thing that happened this weekend (which will have it's own post) is that me and my friend Laura have booked our travels for June! Cordoba, Seville, Granada, Marbella and the White Island, Ibiza are all on the cards to kick off my summer holidays this year!

Charity Shop Finds

Mum and Dad are down in London for the my move back up North. Today we spent two hours packing up my tiny box room which had a lot of stuff in it & then went to Putney to have some food and a wander.
My dad loves charity shops, Oxfam, Cancer Research... you name it, he's been in there. I love them too, for books. As you all know, I'm a HUGE readaholic and I can't wait to be sitting down on a beach/in the garden/anywhere with my nose in a book. I bought three books, and Mum bought me a cute little bracelet too!

I saw The Almost Moon first, having read The Lovely Bones and loved it. Then I read the first sentence of the novel: "When all is said and done, killung my mother came easily." There's not a lot of books that get straight to the point about the dramatic plotline like that! The Pirate's Daughter is a book that I've always seen in Waterstones, and the title has always intrigued me (being a lover of Pirate's and the Caribbean). Then, I spotted A Thousand Splendid Suns which my friend has always recommended I read. It's her favourite book, so I'll be reading that too!... In the sun, on a beach, near the sea. Perfection.
I spotted that bracelet as I was paying for the books, and it's such a lovely little bracelet that I had to have it, and Mum offered to pay! Bonus!

Go into charity shops. You never know what you might find and you're helping out the world!

What I Bought Today

I'm writing this on the actual day of which I have done my shopping! For a change!!
As I am at home, me and my mum went shopping as a kind of tradition aka we always shop when I'm home. I bought lots as usual! Mum treated me too!! So all in all, below are the things that I got today.

God knows how much all this cost altogether but some things were in the sale for really cheap!

I went to see The Vow tonight with my friend which was a really good film. I didn't cry when I definitely through I would! It was nice to have Maccy's, and a lot of it, in the car before the cinema and then sitting down in a dark room to watch a film on the big screen. I don't really go to the pictures anymore because it's so expensive, especially in London. £9.50? Er, no thanks.

The last bracelet is a friendship bracelet between me and my five year old niece who I surprised today after school. I was so excited to see her because I haven't seen her in six or seven weeks! I seriously start to get withdrawal symptons I miss her so much!

The black top and new skirt is Saturday nights outfit with a black blazer and some nude patent shoes (that I have still not bought yet) and a bag (that I also need to buy)! I'm really excited for a good girls night out!

Generally loving being home!

What I Bought Today

This post is a tad late. I went to Kingston yesterday with Verity. It was the usual 'trotters & oinkers' day out: macdonalds followed by lots of shopping! These are my buys: top and dress from h&m, skirt from River Island in the sale, headband, clips and bracelet from Primark. I think I did pretty well for myself considering I told myself that I wouldn't buy that much.

This playsuit was given to me by Jess. I'm in love! It's from Primark and is really comfy.

Tonight I'm off out with the girls. That green skirt might be coming with me!

Drink Me

Just a quick post about this lovely christmas present given to me by my best friend. It is a necklace (obviously) that has the words Drink Me on it. This has a little back story to it which is what makes the present so special: last November, my friend and I went to an exhibition in the Liverpool Tate. It was all about the origins of Alice in Wonderland, a book I was reading for my Children's Lit module (very good timing!). We had a great day together after not seeing each other for about six weeks (sob!) which including a fab pub lunch after the exhibition. This is from Camden Market off a stall I'll apparently love, so I am definitely visiting when I get back to London!

Jewellery Love

I'm home!
Friday was stressful: tidying, packing, travelling through Central London and getting to Euston twenty minutes before my train left. I had a suitcase, a handbag and two other bags of luggage for the two and a half hour journey from Euston to Liverpool Lime Street.
This included a small selection of my jewellery.

Accessories are what makes an outfit. If you read my blog, you know that I love my rings. I've brought only four or five home for the three weeks of being here. I love mixing them up. Obviously my pandora came home with me. I wouldn't leave it in London in fear of it being stolen (highly doubtful). My new skull earrings came home also! I'm obsessed with them at the moment!

The Tattooed Supermodel

This is my new style crush and the woman who has inspired my new tattoo idea:
Erin Wasson.
She is the twenty eight year old supermodel who struts down the fashion runways and poses for photographers. Vogue loves her so much that she has been in plenty of them including: French Vogue, Spanish Vogue, Australian Vogue and German. Other monthlies include: ELLE, ALLURE, NUMERO and ESQUIRE.
Not only does she model, she designs her own jewellery range, LowLuv and has introduced a womenswear collection for RVCA in Spring 2009.
It is safe to say that she is one of the women that every girl should look up to, especially those who want to make it in the fashion industry.

Nevertheless, she isn't the conventional model that everyone aspires to be. She has her own style and she is evidently creative by the way she expresses herself with her body.
Her tattoos are amazing and unique, individual to her life.
I found a blog dedicated to tattoos which has a post for the tattooed supermodel: A Drop of Ink. The blog states that Erin Wasson has a whopping twelve tattoos on her body. It is pretty amazing that a supermodel can have twelve tattoos and still get work.
I salute Erin Wasson and her beauty and her expression.

What I'm Wearing

Today, I thought I'd do a little 'what I'm wearing...' like other fashion blogs. It's only a small one as you can only really see the top half of me due to my lack of a camera.
To be honest, it is mainly about my new necklace that I received as a late present from one of my best friends. It is beautiful and costume jewellery which I love... very crowded and not very simple.

It has the antique feel with the Victorian-style pendent in the middle which is then modernised with the surrounding golden leaves and flowers mixed with pearls and chains.

An excellent combination.

Step Back to the 1500s

First of all, my first year is over! I had my last exam today:
Introduction to Spanish Speaking World.
As one of the first main communities of Latin America before the invasion was the Aztecs, I thought that I would give a bit of background knowledge due to the sudden love for their jewellery and fashion.

Well, we have Moctezuma II, last emperor of the Aztecs before the Spanish came along.

He was the one who created the calendar based on the solar system and predicted that the world ended in 2012.
However, he didn't predict his own death in 1520.
There are various versions
1. His own people stoned him to death.
2. The Spanish stabbed him before they left the Aztec lands.

The Aztecs loved gold.

Look familiar...

The replica in Pirate's of the Caribbean.
Aztec gold is certainly getting around.

Aztec patterns are coming into fashion, especially in Summer due to the bright colours and bizarre shapes.

I'd love to own an Aztec patterned dress, especially like the first dress pictured.
Might have to start looking around for that perfect summer dress.

Aztec jewellery is a massive comeback this summer also...
Some original pieces

New fashion pieces

Personally, I want every single piece of the last picture.
They're so vibrant and colourful and really different.
Different is what I love.

Much love!
